About the Mentor 🌱

Hi! My name is Nour, I am an incoming university junior transferring to the University of California, Irvine, aiming to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I recently graduated from my community college, Santiago Canyon College, with an Associate of Science for Transfer in Computer Science. My passion for Computer Science did not start until I dropped out of my first coding class in high school. At that point, I realized I should overcome this challenge and give it another chance, which I did in college, and that’s how I continue to pursue it. Other than that, Computer Science provides many skills, such as problem-solving, improving logic, teamworking, and professionalism, which are needed in our daily lives. So far in my technical journey, I have learned languages like C++, Java, Python, SQL, JavaScript (React.js), HTML/CSS, and Kotlin (Android Development). I utilized many organizations like Kode with Klossy to learn basic web development, and CodePath to learn intermediate web development and mobile development. Additionally, I am involved with organizations like Rewriting the Code to help others on their journey and expand my network around me. Outside of academia, I am a Muslim woman that prioritizes spirituality and religion and it’s how I continue to balance life. For fun, I love watching crime/action/political shows, and I love reading and writing short stories about certain fandoms and characters. If you know of any shows to recommend, let me know! :)
